The purpose of this position is to be the primary technical contact for the Company and 3rd party refinery customers. The position supports Hydroprocessing catalyst sales by providing high quality technical service to the Company’s refinery customers. This includes assisting with the preparation of technical estimates, start-up assistance, data analysis, unit monitoring and writing of publications.
Accountabilities • Support new sales/business development using technical expertise to meet FSU growth targets. Prepare catalyst technical proposals for future operating cycles & co-ordinate delivery of solutions. • Leverage opportunities with Shell Global Solutions for joint catalyst and technology offerings, to enhance overall business profitability for the Company and improve value creation for customers. • Evaluate catalyst / unit performance and give feedback to customers during the catalyst cycle through technical documents and catalyst performance monitoring reports. Provide unit optimization and troubleshooting advice as required. Lead incident and/or Root Cause Analysis investigations in the event of any catalyst performance issues. • Provide catalyst related operating guidelines and onsite technical support to customers for catalyst loadings and/or activation. • Assist in the preparation of technical literature for sales, tradeshows, trade journals etc, including development and delivery of technical seminars & presentations. • Contribute to improvements in process models & tools. • Support Regional Marketing Manager via market intelligence • Provide technical training for customers, on catalyst and general hydroprocessing applications. • Coach less experienced Account Managers & Technical Service Engineers • Liaise with technical support centre’s and regional Technical Service Manager on pilot plant testing. Identify customers present and future catalyst needs and provide input for future R&D programmes.
Challenges • Must liaise with multiple stakeholders outside of immediate team: Customer Focus Team Leaders, Regional GMs, Regional Technical Service Manager, Regional Marketing Manager, Regional Projects Manager, GM Resid, Global Hydrocracking Business Manager, Supply Chain, Licensing, Hydroprocessing and Commercial Services teams • In this role you will touch on all aspects of a commercial, external focused business. You will be involved in servicing customers, product development, marketing, and will be accountable for the development and delivery of a sales and service plans.
Experience and Qualifications required • Candidates should have a minimum of three years process engineering experience in one or more refinery operation support assignments. Hydroprocessing unit knowledge or experience is beneficial. They will show an understanding of refinery process unit integration and will be accustomed to the use of technical and economic models. Strong proposal writing and presentation skills. • A Chemical Engineering degree preferred. A Chemistry degree is acceptable.
