oil&gas company is looking for Drilling Team Manager (Offshore)
Work Performed :
Supervises, directs and co-ordinates the activities of all personnel on assigned Rig. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position. Directs and supervises drilling, work-over and/or completion activities on assigned rig as required. Ensures that drilling/completion programs are adhered to at each step of the operation. Includes maintaining close liaison with the Drilling Team Manager and client representatives to report observations, recommending necessary changes to drilling/completion programs and directs implementation of new instruction/program details where appropriate. Plans, reviews and directs the receipt of materials and spares required for ongoing and contingent drilling operations on assigned rig. Includes planning requirements, reviewing and approving field requisitions for materials and consumables, directing the receipt/returns of required/excess materials by assigned Materials/Accounting Supervisor to ensure availability of optimum level of materials and spares on assigned rigs. Exercises general supervision over all maintenance activities on assigned rig to ensure that all drilling equipment are in good working condition and directs preventive and/or break down maintenance/repairs as required. Includes ensuring that BOP equipment, fishing tools, tubular and run in the hole tools are available and regularly imputed in accordance with established procedures and maintenance schedules. Approves hot and cold work permits for maintenance and repair activities and oversees shutdown maintenance to ensure that appropriate safety measures are taken and rig down time is confined to minimum levels. Assumes sole responsibility for the rig in the event of an emergency. Advises non-essential staff to evacuate where appropriate and determines action to be implemented immediately to resolve or ease the situation. Liaises with Emergency Control Room staff in implementing the action that they advise and at the earliest opportunity. Ensures compliance with NDC HSE-MS, AIMS and regulations on assigned rig to ensure timely execution of assigned drilling/work-over/completion programs without prejudice to safety of assigned personnel, integrity of the rig, the environment, well and reservoir. Includes, supervising various emergency drills and monitoring performance of assigned crew to ensure readiness, promoting safety and integrity awareness and the practice of good housekeeping and environmental practices on assigned rig. Liaises with the operating company representative on the rig to promote mutually beneficial working relations. Includes assuming recommended changes to drilling programs in light of new down hole parameters, checking all calculations for drilling optimisation, cementation, stimulation and well control, and assisting in the preparation of drilling report for the operating company. Oversees the catering services on assigned rig to ensure conformance to Company's standard of food, hygiene and good housekeeping. Includes approving menus, inspecting employees’ accommodation quarters and discussing any deviation with the catering contractor. Ensures the timely billing of third party personnel utilising NDC catering facilities. Prepares and submits periodic (daily/weekly/monthly) reports covering drilling activities, problems encountered and safety drills undertaken. Submits to Supervisor daily drilling report by fax, telephone and/or radio. Reviews and approves the comment report when appropriate and maintains accurate records of all activities carried out on assigned rig. Participates in the training and development of UAE national staff by supporting appropriate development strategies, counselling and coaching such staff, evaluating their development in practical terms and communicating this to staff involved in their development. Carries out other similar or related duties such as representing the Company with all parties working on the rig (service personnel, contractors), co-ordinating rig moves, reviewing existing work methods and recommending improvement to operations, safety and/or maintenance, keeping abreast of new developments in the drilling field and following up on amendments to Company policies and procedures and directing their implementation.
Accountability
The position is accountable for:
Meeting schedules relative to drilling and work-over. Ensuring, by monitoring, that maintenance and repair works are undertaken in a timely and safe manner. Ensuring that shut down of operations and or equipment is fully implemented when necessary. Directing the work of non-company personnel and organisations engaged in activities on the rig. Monitoring the cost of rig operations and ensuring compliance with budgetary limits. Ensuring the security of capital asset items. Recommending changes to drilling & completion programmes. Ensuring that rig personnel are efficient in following emergency procedures Ensuring that services provided are adequate and conducive to good morale Establishing and maintaining good relations with contractor personnel located on site Assuming sole command of the rig In the event of an emergency He enforcement of asset integrity on board the rig thus preventing any incident that compromises the integrity of the barge and its equipment.
HSE Responsibility:
Establishing HSE target objectives for staff reporting to him. Implementation and follow up of rig site HSE plan Chairing rig safety meetings Implement HSE related recommendations from various sources Participates in accident investigations Ensures periodic testing, inspection & certification of safety equipment Review, action & encourage the use of hazard reporting Promoting safety awareness within their sphere of responsibility The safety performance of subordinate staff (including contract staff) Taking all measures necessary, including disciplinary, where non compliance with the HSE manual and its’ associate directives and/or legislation is observed. Improving overall environmental performance of the rig. Reporting and investigation as per NDC procedure any spill or environmental incident in timely and accurate manner.
Minimum Requirements :
B.Sc. in Engineering discipline preferably Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent supplemented by short training courses in drilling technology, safety measures, life saving and survival at sea. 8 years' experience in oil drilling operations including 5 years as a tool-pusher in an offshore rig. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Fluency in spoken and written English. Valid I.W.CF certification – Supervisory level.
