Position: HSE engineer Activities:
• Review and digest the pre-project studies and Basis of Design;
• Ensure that Company’s HSE reference documents are understood and applied (directives, rules, specifications …) along with local Legislation;
• Verify that the deliverables to be produced by the Contractor(s) cover all aspects related to HSE;
• Assure engineering input and quality for safety studies (safety concept, safety case, EIA input, QRA related activities);
• Perform and facilitate HAZID’s and HAZOP’s on engineering design and abandonment of the installations;
• Control Engineering contractors regarding HSE engineering;
• Ensure, by appropriate Project Team liaison, that these studies, address also issues arising from other Packages and activities;
• Ensure that safety equipment are included on equipment list;
• Conduct engineering safety reviews and audits;
• Participate in weekly and monthly progress meetings;
• Participate to site visits as necessary;
• Prepare and issue adequate progress reporting related to HSE engineering;
• Highlight critical problems and propose corrective actions.
Qualifications / experience required
Relevant experience in conducting Health, Safety and Environment studies such as :
• QRA (consequence / dispersion / radiation / explosion modelling using validated software's like PHAST, FRED and Probabilistic Studies using risk summation tools, fault tree / event tree etc…). He must also be conversant with studies like HAZID, HAZOP, EER, FERA etc;
• Design of active fire protection system (fire water pumping / network, deluge system, foam system, fire water hydraulic simulation with specific software's) and passive fire protective systems;
• Job holder shall have a minimum background of 5 years in HSE & Loss Prevention Engineering in O&G Industries (Site Safety experience not required at this design stage). He should be capable of developing HSE Philosophy / Safety Concept and handle a project as Lead Loss Prevention Engineer;
• Good understanding of the implications of Hazardous Area Classification, Fire Zoning and Fire Protection;
• Ability to understand and interpret cause and effect matrices for complex control systems.
