- Must be able to attain Offshore Medical Certificate
- Must be able to attain Offshore Survival Certificate
- Willingness to be deployed to any location, globally (offshore and in onshore bases)
- Offshore experience important
- Experience in a variety of complex electro-mechanical control systems (proportional control etc.)
- Consideration will be given to candidates who have experience in heavy machinery (power stations, paper mills, mines, railroads etc)
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in appropriate Hydraulic Qualification
- Speak English Fluently
- Hydraulic systems on which the candidate should be intimately familiar with include:
- Closed Loop Transmissions
- Open Loop Circuits
- Axial Piston Pumps/Motors
- Proportional Control Valves
- Servo Control Cards
- Logic Elements
- Relief valves
- Reducing Valves
- Cylinders and Rotary Actuators
- Epicyclical Gearboxes and Associated Brakes
- Cranes and Winches

- Organises and completes planned maintenance for the system, keeping records of defects to assist in planning of re-fits and maintenance periods
- Uses logical fault finding techniques during breakdown situations
- Operates pipelay spread and auxiliary equipment during Lay operations
- Primary responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the pipelay equipment, with specific responsibility for hydraulic systems. Implements and monitors technical procedures and reporting, work management and execution, supervision of personnel and operational duties
