Material Engineer
Location: Atyrau, Kazakhstan Role Overview: To assist the Materials Coordinator ensuring that HUC materials required as identified and ensuring that HUC materials and equipments procurement and delivery activities are in line with the project requirements.
Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension
Basis: Based in Atyrau on a 5/2 working pattern with business trip as required by the business.
Indicative Day Rate: Negotiable commensurate on candidate experience
Role Activities:
The job holder is responsible to assist the Material Co-ordinator in:
• Addressing received MTOs and other necessary engineering deliverables for the selected procurement option according to the defined contract strategy and specific CH’s instructions.
• Following up with the C&P Contracts unit the procurement activities for material directly purchased by the Company ensuring that all information is timely provided to meet the material delivery plans.
• Monitoring all open issues related to material procured by HUC Contractors and participating to any related review meetings. Make sure that Head of Materials and Supply Chain (HUC) is timely informed of any critical issues potentially affective the RoS plan.
• Monitoring the status of the procurement plans identifying and reporting on shortfall, quality shortfalls, or any issue that might jeopardise the RoS plans.
• Providing timely information to HUC Contract Administration team to assess the procurement VOWD, accruals and commitment.
• Monitoring and reporting, with the support of Material Expeditors on the material readiness at Vendor site granting that information is timely provided to mitigate any risk of potential delay on the shipment plans.
• Analyze with Cost Engineers all potential PCN’s and VOPs and forward to the HUC Contract Administration team supporting documentation for those presented to the Contract Holder.
• Proactively involving HUC Contract Administration team for all the materials procurement issues that can implicate extra-contractual charges. Ensuring that HUC Contract Administration team is informed of any back charges, concession notices or potential claims deriving from material management issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
The job holder must have:
• Sound experience in engineering activities and material management interfacing with Vendors
• Minimum 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
• University Degree (technical) in engineering is preferable Experience and knowledge of Supply Chain process, Engineering and Procurement activities and Material management.
Required competencies:
The job holder must have proven:
• Ability to proactively identify risks and propose solutions to mitigate them
• Good knowledge and understanding of Material Management and supply chain practices;
• Knowledge of computer based systems including SAP, and Microsoft Office package;
• Positive attitude & ability to work constructively within a multi-cultural team environment.
