Petroleum Engineer - Well planning and project support
The Petroleum Engineer – well planning and project support is a member of the Norway Base Management Team, with responsibilities mainly related to providing Base Management support to well planning and other projects on Valhall. He / she reports to the Norway Base Management Team Leader.
Job description:
• Base Management focal point for development and implementation of well and surveillance technology in support of the area depletion plans.
• Provide technical support to well planning and well operations, ensuring safe, fit for purpose and cost effective well designs and well interventions.
• Provide petroleum engineering technical support to facility upgrades..
• Understand and influence production chemistry / flow assurance issues for injection and production systems, with special focus on front end loading to new wells and projects..
• Define, maintain and manage well operating envelopes for wells.
• Support After Action Reviews, document and communicate results and lessons learnt.
HSE
• Demonstrate commitment to safety, compliance and risk management in planning and execution of all well interventions and other well and plant operations.
• Demonstrate commitment to compliance and risk management by rigid definition and management of the well operating envelopes.
Be alert to unsafe practices in work situations, and use STOP conversations to intervene and report
Place of work: Stavanger. The position might involve offshore work when business requires this.
Education/Experience:
• Minimum M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering or Equivalent and well developed HSE, Drilling, Wells, Reservoir, Facilities and Commercial understanding.
• Minimum 7 years experience in Petroleum / Well / Completion Engineering.
• Experience with well technology and well design preferred.
• Experience with topside production systems, including metering / sampling systems preferred.
Personal skills:
• Flexible, ability to effectively deliver results in a dynamic operational environment.
• Strong teamwork skills, ability to negotiate / build consensus between teams and disciplines in complex issues (Base Management has an important role as integrator between onshore/offshore and different functions (Subsurface, Wells, Operations).
• Good communicator, proactively seeking advice from others and sharing own experiences with group.
• Systematic, strong problem solving skills.
• Positive attitude, self-motivated and proactive.
