Western Lubricant Manufacturing company is looking for a Technical Specialist in Engine Lubricants Additives.
Position Summary
The Company is seeking an experienced technical professional to serve as the key technical interface with Russian lubricant marketer customers and auto makers (OEMs). The successful candidate will possess the ability to build relationships with these industry partners, translating their technical needs into product support and development. This requires the ability to understand complex industry/OEM lubricant specifications and deploy products against these specifications using designed experiments and company’s product development processes. The primary focus will be on technologies for the Russian market but the role will increasingly take on a more European or even global dimension as Russian customers expand. The role also involves significant internal collaboration with company’s Technology, Industry Liaison and Sales & Marketing functions.
Responsibilities
• Provide expert customer technical support including product recommendations, product-based value propositions and general technical advice.
• Develop and maintain contacts with key Russian OEMs, providing related insights on their future lubricant needs for company’s longer-term technology planning.
• Extend performance claims for Crankcase technology platforms through the design and execution of test programmes involving bench and engine test evaluations.
• Lead formulation deployment projects and technical collaborations as agreed with customers.
• Lead and/or provide the key interface for collaboration projects with key Russian OEMs.
• Working with Sales & Marketing, Technology and Industry Liaison colleagues, contribute to the understanding of market needs and future technology requirements.
• Contribute to organizational learning through information sharing and collaboration with other colleagues in Sales & Marketing, Industry Liaison and Technology.
• Develop and maintain product documentation to support performance claims on customer-specific and/or market general products.
Selection Criteria
• Native Russian speaker with advanced English skills.
• Established technical competency with a strong science background, preferably in either chemistry or engineering.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen and enthusiasm to work with customers.
• Strong interpersonal, networking and communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop external personal relationships.
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills (Russian and English).
• Ability to effectively carry out multiple projects and other technical activities simultaneously.
• Work experience of 3+ years, preferably for a western company in the oil & gas sector.
• Knowledge of the lubricants industry, lubricant formulation and related technology development activities would be advantageous.
