Technical Support Specialist
Description:
This position provides technical product and application support to the sales group as well as to external customers. This also includes on site technical service support to UOP's refinery, natural gas processing and petrochemical clients primarily in Middle East and Mediterranean area.
Job Responsibilities
Sales Support
* Provide technical consulting to sales personnel and customers on existing adsorption units, covering adsorption know how and process topics, This includes operational data reviews, consulting on specific operational issues, consulting on potential process changes and impact on adsorption units, sample analysis feedback etc.
* Support sales personnel with customers (end-user and contractor) meeting / visits, to resolve,/explain technical issues / matters around the adsorption units.
* Liaise internally with UOP's SA&S Development organization to assist development projects and / or to develop jointly resolutions for specific customer problem.
Technical Service site support
* Provide on site service efforts on adsorption units related to : startup activities, performance evaluations, unit optimization, loading supervision, troubleshooting and adsorbent testing,
* Prepare and provide technical reports / presentations on the results of the on site service work
* On site service work includes capability to install and operate UOP portable analytical equipment used in analyzing performance of adsorption units.
Design support
* Analyze and review technical tender documents for adsorption units, either for new projects/units, either for revamp / reload of existing units for completeness of information.
* Based on RFQ document, prepare basic adsorption unit design. This includes adsorbent selection in view of application, adsorption unit vessel number and size and adsorption unit cycle (flow, temperatures, pressures and duration of different phases)
* Provide design feedback to sales in the form of Design Summary Sheet and Vessel Loading Diagrams; provide input in technical proposal as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills Abilities and Other Requirements
* Minimal Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, 3-5 years experience in technical role in hydrocarbon process industry, preferably in natural gas processing plants and/or ethylene plants.
* FSU experience is preferred and knowledge/exposure to adsorbents is preferred but not mandatory.
* Strong communication skills, strong analytical skills, team worker yet to be able to work independently on site, self motivated and strong customer focus
* General process knowledge of natural gas plants & ethylene plants.
* Languages: Russian and English
