Instrument and Controls Engineer

Accountability
To provide discipline front end and detailed design input to Brownfield engineering projects, technical support studies as requested, engineering support to the construction / commissioning phases as necessary and providing engineering support to maintenance and operations as requested

Basic Functions

• Preparation of scope of work
• Specification of field instruments
• Technical evaluations and clarifications of received bids
• Checking of contract documents for compliance with company requirements
• Preparation of material requisitions
• Instrument data sheets
• Control narratives
• I/O schedules
Principal Responsibilities
• Responsible of the provision of instrument & control engineering services in support of project scope of work delivery
• .Ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current releases of any company/client or statutory design, codes, standards or procedures

• Familiar with IPF/SIL classification methodologies is required. Experience with Yokogawa/Honeywell DCS systems is strongly preferred.. Commissioning and plant start-up, plant control optimisation field experience is strongly preferred
• Read P & ID's and & identify instrument draughting content
• prepare instrument hook-ups (process/pneumatic/hydraulic)
• identify field termination requirements & prepare appropriate drawings
• understand requirements for cable segregation (analogue/digital/IS & non IS)
• prepare accurate material take offs
• ability to correctly size cables & complimentary field termination details
• from site survey prepare equipment fixing details & accurately identify suitable cable lengths & routes
• prepare instrument loop diagrams to aid commissioning
• understand cause & effect diagrams and their preparation
• understand and be able to prepare logic diagrams
• produce cable schedules to reflect length/size glanding requirements etc.
• awareness of fire & gas systems and the requirements for specific detector types

Team worker Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to work in teams and liaise with other discipline engineers in a multicultural environment
Fluent spoken and written English.
Experience in
• oil and gas engineering required preferably brownfield
• conceptual, front end and detailed design required
• Field experience in construction and commissioning strongly preferred.
• Experience in an engineering design company/ Russian Design Institute desirable
• experience in on shore projects in cold/ remote regions
Degree in Engineering
